In the somewhat surrealistic morning light, a mother awakens to find that her first breath wants to embrace the beauty of the day for which she instinctively yearns-only to find with her second breath that the overshadowing sadness in her heart for the death of her son is still there. Such is the overriding theme in this book of poetry by Linda Roman, FINAL SIGHT. Struggling with feelings and emotions never before experienced, Mrs. Roman carves a sculpture of heartfelt reality with her words. The untimely and agonizing death of her son propelled her into uncharted waters, and she writes about the ebb and flow of these waters with grace, emotion, and clarity. Her stream of consciousness, styling and format add to the reader’s enjoyment, as well as allowing the reader to become actively involved with Mrs. Roman’s thought process. In the end, there is an acceptance, a calming, and an acknowledgment of friends and family who helped her through these rough seas. The verse is mindful of the importance of friends and family throughout, so very necessary in the face of what this poet has had to endure
